Next question:
Since I try to stay off of Twitter and don't post any more content over there please suggest some accounts I should follow here. My timeline needs some more content :D
I got a week of PTO left.
What code should I read? Please drop suggestions with a reason why I should read it.
I messed up my gotosocial instance here at threatactor.club, it's running on fly.io and a very long migration was interrupted by a health check.
I was fiddling with the sqlite DB for a while and tried to recover that mess... until I noticed that there are automated snapshots of the volume which holds the DB, daily with five days of retention. Huge props to fly.io for saving my virtual ass with this.

PSA for those who have German health insurance and also struggle to complete bureaucratic tasks on a deadline: You can opt out of the ePA at any time; it’ll then get deleted six weeks later.
I'm open for Ruby on Rails contract work in 2025!
I'm an experienced systems and performance engineer with deep knowledge of Rails and the Ruby VM, and I have code committed and CVEs credited in both projects. I am also highly proficient with web tech, databases, and Linux systems.
I've worked at every layer of the stack from kernel to browser frontend, and I'm comfortable with cracking open the code to answer questions the documentation doesn't.
From 2013 to 2018 I worked on systems and performance at GitHub, where I led efforts to upgrade the main Rails app from Rails 2.3 to 3.2 (old heads know) and from Ruby 1.9 to the 2.x series.
I'm based in Melbourne, Australia and am experienced and comfortable working remotely, however I am also open to hybrid arrangements if you're local.
Available for immediate start on short-to-mid-term contracts. DM here, or reach out via email at hailey@hails.org.
boosts appreciated :) #ruby #rails #fedihired
I hope this is an elaborate Supply Chain Attack joke.

Have a great weekend and enjoy some tunes:
To all Hacker Spaces in Berlin. I have a decommissioned server to give away. So far, I have been unable to find a beneficiary.
**Who wants this server?**

Happy 2025 everyone!
Last year for me wasn’t especially great. But it had a few highlights standing out:
Took the risk and went on an adventurous camper trip with the family
Got promoted at work and in BJJ
Had the chance to be behind the DJ decks again on two occasions
Got to meet most of my teammates in person finally
For 2025 I hope the medical problems in my family can finally get on a route to be resolved.
Does anybody have a tap for a keg of beer (10l, DIN 6647-1) with them? Maybe a top vent as well. We Cologne people have beer, but no way to get it out of the keg.
If you can help us out of our misery, that would be great. And you'll get beer! 🍻
edit: We got a set! There will be beer at some time (most likely tomorrow).
